UMAC Player of the Week Awards - Oct. 28, 2019
ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated for by UMAC coaches and sports information directors (SIDs) and selected by SIDs. The awards are published each Monday afternoon.
The award winners and descriptions of their accomplishments for the week are below:

FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Paul Garrett, Fy., Greenville
Goodwater, Ala./Clay Central
- Led Greenville offensively to 32-6 win over Crown
- Finished with 193 yards rushing and two TDs
- Recorded long run of 65 yards for a score
FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Doe, Fy., Crown
Lousiville, Kent./Butler
- Led Crown defensively in loss to Greenville
- Finished with 15 total tackles including one for a loss
- Added a forced fumble and recovery
FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tim Branneky, So., Westminster
St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran North
- Recorded two field goals in 17-14 win vs. Minnesota Morris
- Kicked school- and UMAC record, 58-yard field that is longest in DIII this season
- Recorded seven punts (221 yards) and four kickoffs (252 yards)
VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jenay Fuglestad, Jr., Northwestern
Maple Grove, Minn./Heritage Christian
- Led Northwestern to three wins and postseason berth last week
- Averaged 3.6 k/s with 12 per match hitting .296
- Added six blocks
VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morgan Miller, Sr., Minnesota Morris
Twin Valley, Minn./Ada Borup
- Averaged 1.17 blocks in two Cougar wins last week
- Recorded five blocks including two solo vs. Martin Luther
- Added. 3.3 k/s hitting .594 offensively
VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Layne Herrmann, Sr., Minnesota Morris
Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake
- Averaged 11.8 ast/s to help Cougars clinch share of UMAC title
- Recorded 37 assists in three-set win vs. Martin Luther
- Added eight kills and eight digs
MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Max Busch, Fy., Bethany Lutheran
Odenthal, Germany/Gymnasium Odenthal
- Helped Vikings clinch first postseason berth since 2015
- Scored five goals including both in tie vs. St. Scholastica
- Finished with 11 points and currently leads DIII in scoring
MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ulrik Lager, Jr., Wisconsin-Superior
Vollen, Norway/Asker VGS
- Led Yellowjackets to non-conference win over Saint John's
- Recorded 10 saves including six in the second half for a shutout
- Stopped a penalty kick attempt in 72nd minute
WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Maddie Perry, Jr., Bethany Lutheran
Anoka, Minn./Anoka
- Helped the Vikings clinch a UMAC tournament berth
- Scored four goals in win over North Central
- Tied her own program record for single-game goals (4)
WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Zamzow, Fy., St. Scholastica
Duluth, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's
- Led Saints defense that allowed just one shot in two games
- Recorded a goal in each of two games
- Scored two goals on two shot attempts
