DULUTH, Minn.---For the second-straight season, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) women's soccer postseason championship game will be hosted at the University of Northwestern after it won big and will host the University of Wisconsin-Superior after it pulled off an upset Wednesday in the semifinal round.

In the first game of the day, No. 4 Wisconsin-Superior stunned No. 1 College of St. Scholastica on its home turf with a goal in the final minute of play to send the Yellowjackets into their first-ever UMAC postseason final following the 1-0 victory.

No. 2-seeded Northwestern closed the night with a dominant 8-0 win over No. 3 Northland College to earn the right to host the tournament championship game against the Yellowjackts Saturday at 3 p.m.

The top-seeded Saints finished an impressive 11-0-1 regular season and allowed just two goals to conference opponents in 2018. They shutout the Yellowjackets twice and looked to be in a position to advance to the UMAC championship hosting the semifinal at home Wednesday, but the 'Jackets had other plans.

The first half opened up with an offensively dominant performance from the Saints in which they recorded 16 total shots but just four on target. They surrendered just one shot on goal to the Yellowjackets and just two total chances. The scoreless game continued in the second half with more attack from the Saints.

However, the Yellowjackets needed just one opportunity and they certainly capitalized when Erin Schoberg scored with 37 seconds remaining off a loose ball off the Saints' keeper. The Saints had two additional corner kicks in the waning seconds of the game, but couldn't find a way to score allowing the Yellowjackets to emerge with a 1-0 victory.

Madison Gutekunst recorded her sixth-straight shutout in goal for the Yellowjackets making 10 saves to help her team advance. Morgan Friday led the Saints offensively with 15 shots and four on goal.

No. 2 Northwestern def. No. 3 Northland, 8-0 | Box Score
No. 2 Northwestern shutout No. 3 Northland twice during the regular season and the trend continued thanks to an offensive explosion from the Eagles. With the win, the Eagles will now host a second-consecutive conference title game with a chance to advance to the NCAA tournament on the line.

The scoring frenzy started early for Eagles when Alexis Albrecht scored just 40 seconds into the game. The LumberJills managed to hold off the Eagles for awhile and kept the game 1-0 until the 20th minute when Anna Welch scored her first of three goals in the game to make it 2-0.

Beginning in the 27th minutes, the Eagles would add three more goals in a seven-minute time span with tallies by Linley Norman, Welch and Danielle Roberts to make it 5-0 at the half. Emily Daubenmeier, Welch and Maddie Leever each recorded goals in the second half to give the Eagles the win.

Welch led the offensive attack for the Eagles with four of the team's 24 shots and three of the 12 on goal. Samantha Colombo earned the shutout with one save. Megan Jordan recorded four saves in net for the LumberJills.
