ALEXANDRIA, MINN. – Despite the graduation of Jose Carlos Cueva
and an early season injury to Parker Lippold, the Crown golf team picked up right where they left off last season, winning the UMAC Preview at Alexandria Golf Club by five strokes.
Crown shot a team score of +30, five strokes ahead of runner up Northwestern and ten strokes ahead of last season's rival Bethany Lutheran.
Reed Sorensen, who won the 2014 UMAC Championships, was Crown's top finisher, shooting a 77 and ending in a tie for third place.
Newcomer Austin Coyne finished in a tie for seventh place after shooting a 79 in his first college event, with Juan Marcos Cueva and Tom Messner rounding out the team score with matching rounds of 81.
The Storm's strong showing sets up another exciting golf season as the team seeks to defend their conference title and book a return trip to the NCAA National Championships.
