The College of St. Scholastica baseball team kicked off the conference season with two wins over the University of Minnesota Morris thanks in large part to a solid pitching performance from senior star Jordan Risse. In the game two 10-0 win, Risse recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts in his seven innings pitched for a shutout victory. He also gave up just one hit to the Cougars. This season, Risse boasts a 4-0 record on the mound and ranks second in the UMAC for earned run average (2.87) and strikeouts per game (11.78). Risse and the Saints return to action Tuesday against North Central University and face Bethany Lutheran College Saturday.
