The Unviersity of Northwestern-St. Paul baseball team scored an impressive split with Augsburg College last Wednesday which included an 8-7 win behind solid pitching from Troy Nelson. The senior hurler – who is second in the UMAC this season for innings pitched with 27.0 – earned his first win of the season in six innings of work against the Auggies. He struck out one batter en route to victory and allowed just eight total hits. This season, Nelson is tied for first in the UMAC with five starts and ranks 12th in earned run average (ERA) at 6.00. He and the rest of the Eagles host St. Olaf College in non-conference doubleheader action Thursday.
