The University of Minnesota Morris baseball squad won five of eight games on its spring break trip thanks in large part to solid pitching from Sam Melchior. The sophomore hurler allowed just one earned run in a total of 11.2 innings pitched and earned three wins on the week. First, he threw 7.0 innings and struck out five batters against Utica College Wednesday. He came in for at total of 4.2 innings of relief in a doubleheader Sunday with D'Youville College striking out four batters. Melchior ended the week with a spectacular 0.77 earned run average (ERA). Melchior and the Cougars return to action in three games with Dordt College this weekend in Iowa.
