Bethany Lutheran College's women's team claimed its first UMAC win of the season with a solid 9-0 sweep of North Central University Friday. Sabrina Batalden defeated Lindsay Freitag 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position to help the rams to victory. The Vikings' first-year turnaround Saturday to face Saint Mary's College (Neb.) and suffered a tough 8-1 loss. However, Batalden earned the lone Vikings' win with a 6-4, 6-3 decision again at No. 5 singles. Batalden and the Vikings resume competition Saturday, April 2 when they face Midland before taking on UMAC-leading College of St. Scholastica.
