ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn.---Director of Athletics Jamie Ross announced on Thursday that Brittany Strange has been named the new head coach of the Crown College volleyball program. Strange is a 2016 graduate of Crown and has spent the last two years as an assistant coach with the Storm.
"I'm super excited for the opportunity to invest back into Crown with the time that was invested into me," said Strange. "[The] coaches I had throughout the years impacted me and I'm excited to do that back at Crown with the players I'll be coaching."
Before coaching, Strange competed for Crown Volleyball from 2012-2015 recording 1,091 assists and 131 kills in her Crown collegiate career. The Wisconsin native was the Storm's primary setter her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons and her career assists total is third all-time in Crown's NCAA era.
"I believe it's important to have a competitive Christ-centered team, allowing them to compete on the court but also learning what it means to be a team player outside of the sport and in life after they graduate," said Strange about her coaching philosophy.
In addition to being an assistant with the Storm, Strange also coached for Club Tonka from 2014-16 while she was attending Crown, and has coached for the Northern Impact Volleyball Club from 2016-18.
"I am proud to announce Brittany as the new Head Coach of the Crown College volleyball program," said Ross. "We are very fortunate to bring back one of our own for this role, and I'm excited about the direction of both the volleyball program and the department. Being a former member of Crown Volleyball and assistant coach, Brittany has a strong connection to the program and we know she'll positively impact the people in our community."
