Northwestern remains ranked for third-straight week in Central Region
ST. PAUL, Minn.---For the third-straight week, the University of Northwestern held steady with a spot in the NCAA Division III Central Region rankings as the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) lone representative, it was announced Wednesday.

The Eagles started off the rankings in the No. 7 spot before jumping to No. 6 a week ago. This week, the Eagles fell back to No. 7. The Eagles earned a decisive win over the University of Minnesota Morris Wednesday to clinch a share of the title and the No. 1 seed in the UMAC postseason tournament. Later in the week, though, the Eagles dropped a five-set match to Wartburg College which boosted the squad from the American Rivers Conference ahead of the Eagles into No. 6.
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) holds down the top four spots in the rankings with No. 1 University of St. Thomas, No. 2 St. Olaf College, No. 3 College of St. Benedict and No. 4 Augsburg College. Washington University of St. Louis was in the fifth spot, while the American Rivers had Wartburg ni No. 6 and Loras College at No. 8.
The Eagles open up UMAC tournament play Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the University of Wisconsin-Superior in St. Paul. With a win Wednesday, the Eagles would host the conference championship match Saturday.
