Northwestern jumped to No. 6 in the Central Region rankings which will ultimately be used to determine selections to the NCAA tournament. The Eagles remain the lone UMAC squad represented in the rankings after adding three more wins this week including a win over a Saint Mary's University squad that defeated the top two teams in the ranking in No. 1 St. Olaf College and No. 2 College of Saint Benedict.

This season the Eagles have faced four other ranked teams from the Central Region, but also has three wins against teams ranked in other regions including a decisive 3-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire which ranks No. 4 in Midwest Region. In the Central Region, the Eagles have two losses to No. 2 College of Saint Benedict as well as individual losses to No. 1 St. Olaf College and No. 5 University of St. Thomas.

The Eagles will look to remain ranked next week but will first try to lock up a share of the UMAC title when they face the University of Minnesota Morris at 7 p.m. at home Wednesday. The Cougars have already earned at least a share of the title, but the Eagles could do the same with a win. They are also scheduled for two non-conference matches Saturday at No. 7 Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
