The UMAC Game of the Week runs each Thursday during the conference regular season and breaks down one key matchup from one sport.
***UPDATE***
Northwestern wins 53-47

The Matchup
Saturday, Feb. 10 - College of St. Scholastica at University of Northwestern, women's basketball, 5 p.m. in St. Paul, Minnesota

What's at Stake
  • Postseason berth - Northwestern has already clinched a berth in the postseason tournament based on tiebreaker criteria. A win for St. Scholastica would seal its fate and spot in the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.
  • Playoff seeding - While neither team will be able to secure a seed, a win for St. Scholastica would give the Saints a one-game lead and the head-to-head tiebreaker should the two end up with matching records at the end of the regular season. If Northwestern wins, it would even the season series and give the Eagles an advantage in record and tiebreakers.
  • Rematch revenge - St. Scholastica took the opening game of the season series 60-50 over the Eagles at home. With so much on the line, Northwestern will be hungry for revenge and the split on the season series.
Previously in Action
  • Northwestern fell 59-43 on the road to UAMC champion University of Wisconsin-Superior Wednesday.
  • St. Scholastica scored a 61-35 non-conference win over Finlandia University Wednesday evening.

Need to Know
  • Streaks - St. Scholastica has won two-straight games and winning a third would equal its longest streak of the season. Northwestern has lost four-consecutive conference games and four of its last five overall.
  • Evenly matched - In the two biggest categories of the game, the Saints and Eagles are nearly identical. Both squads average around 57 points per game and around 35 rebounds per game which ranks in the bottom third of the league. Whichever team can find a way to score efficiently and out-rebound their opponent should be a lock to win.
  • 60 - The Saints have won just two conference games in which they have scored less than 60 points with both victories coming against Martin Luther College, while Northwestern has just one win in a game with less than 60 points scored.
