ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's golf. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated for UMAC coaches and sports information directors (SIDs) and selected by SIDs. The awards are published each Monday afternoon. 

The award winners and descriptions of their accomplishments for the week are below:

FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7364Chazz Middlebrook, Jr., MacMurray
Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville
- Led MacMurray to a 22-14 season-opening win over Rockford
- Rushed for 288 yards on 39 attempts averaging 7.4 yards per carry
- Scored three touchdowns including one for 68 yards



FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7366Anthony Washington, Jr., Westminster
Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves
- Recorded four tackles including three solo tackles
- Caused one forced fumble and picked up one fumble recovery
- Tallied one interception and had two pass break ups



FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7365Drew Shipley, So., Minnesota Morris
Couer D'Alene, Idaho/Lake City
- Booted seven punts for 291 yards in loss to Martin Luther
- Averaged 41.6 yards per punt with a long kick of 50 yards
- Downed four punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line



VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7375Lindsey Peterson, Sr., Northwestern
Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork
- Helped No. 4 Northwestern to 4-0 start in home-opening tournament
- Collected 70 kills (5.38 k/s) and had a .366 attacking percentage 
- Recorded 24 kills against Wisconsin-Stevens Point and 22 versus Buena Vista



VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7374Katie Reitsma, Sr., Minnesota Morris
Sauk Centre, Minn./Sauk Centre
- Recorded 83 digs (5.53 per set) in three Cougar wins
- Collected 32 digs in only weekend loss to Luther
- Added eight assists and six aces to her stat line



VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
7373Layne Herrmann, So., Minnesota Morris
Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake
- Tallied 146 assists (9.73 per set) in four matches and three Cougar wins
- Recorded 46 assists in the Cougars' 3-2 win over Chicago
- Added 41 assists in a four-set loss to Luther
 


MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7372Danny Kearns, Jr., Wisconsin-Superior
Greenock, Scotland./Clydeview Academy
- Led the Yellowjackets to a 7-0 rout of Concordia Sunday
- Tallied four points including three goals for a hat trick 
- Went 3-for-3 on shots for goals
 


MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7368Eli Etzel, Sr., Crown
Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo
- Helped Crown to an impressive 2-0 non-conference win over Bethel 
- Recorded 12 saves in the Storm's victory
- Was one of just two UMAC keepers to record a shutout in opening weekend



WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7369Emily Goeppinger, Sr., Northwestern
Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield
- Scored the Eagles' lone goal in a loss to Carthage Friday
- Recorded goal on her only shot of the game
- Tallied 90 full minutes of action in the contest



WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7371Samantha Dewey, Jr., Northwestern
Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors
- Recorded four saves in loss to Carthage in Eagles' opener
- Tallied a complete game in goal for the Eagles




MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
7363Easton Foss, Jr., St. Scholastica
Pine City, Minn./PIne City
- Led St. Scholastica to third-place finish at Tom Barry Invitational
- Placed fourth in the four-mile race with a personal record time of 21:20
- Ran 37 seconds faster than his time in the same race a year ago



WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
7362Casey Hovland, Sr., St. Scholastica
North Branch, Minn./North Branch
- Won the season opening Tom Berry Meet hosted by St. Norbert College
- Completed the 5,000-meter course in 17:51 and 15 seconds over the rest of the field
- Improved on the course by 43 seconds from 2015 season



MEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7367Spencer Viita, So., St. Scholastica
Cook, Minn./North Woods
- Collected medalist honors at Twin Ports Collegiate 
- Recored a day two score of 69 (-2) for a program record round
- Rallied from eight shots down to win with a score of 148 (+6)



WOMEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
7370Alayna Tulip, Fy., Wisconsin-Superior
Arcadia, Minn./Arcadia
- Collected medalist honors at Twin Ports Collegiate
- Finished three strokes in the lead with a 176 (+33)
- Recorded the lowest day one score of 87 (+15)
