UMAC Player of the Week Awards - Sept. 18, 2017
ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country and men's and women's golf. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated for by UMAC coaches and sports information directors (SIDs) and selected by SIDs. The awards are published each Monday afternoon.
The award winners and descriptions of their accomplishments for the week are below:

FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chazz Middlebrook, Jr., MacMurray
Jacksonville, Ill./Jacksonville
- Led MacMurray to 48-34 win over Crown
- Rushed for 275 yards on 34 carries and scored four touchdowns
- Currently leads Division III in rushing yards (734) and rushing TDs (11)
FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Daniel Stratton, Sr., Northwestern
Lucerne Valley, Calif./Lucerne Valley
- Recorded 13 tackles including two for a loss in loss to Greenville
- Added 1.5 sacks and a pass breakup
- Forced two fumbles and recovered one
FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Donovan Blatz, Jr., St. Scholastica
Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View
- Went 6-for-7 on point-after attempts and averaged 55.6 yards per kickoff
- Averaged 36.5 including a long of 48 yards and one inside the 20-yard line
- Also added eight tackles defensively
VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lindsey Peterson, Sr., Northwestern
Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork
- Contributed to three wins for Northwestern on the week
- Collected 53 kills (5.30 k/s) including 21 in a UMAC win over Minnesota Morris
- Finished with a .310 hitting percentage and 30 digs
VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jackie Doering, Sr., Northwestern
Charles City, Iowa/Charles City
- Recorded 55 digs (4.58 per set) in four UNW wins
- Collected 18 digs in four-set UMAC win over Minnesota Morris
- Added eight assists and three aces in addition to her defensive effort
VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Layne Herrmann, So., Minnesota Morris
Brownton, Minn./Glencoe-Silver Lake
- Tallied 132 assists (10.2 per set) in four matches and two Cougar wins
- Recorded 30-plus assists in three matches including 38 vs. Northwestern
- Added 18 digs, nine kills and eight aces
MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joseph Graumann, So., Martin luther
Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran
- Helped Martin Luther to a 2-0 start to UMAC play
- Tallied three goals including the game-winner against Northland
- His three goals in UMAC games leads the conference
MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Turner Main, Sr., Northwestern
Kewaunee, Wis./Kewaunee
- Led Northwestern to a win and tie on the week
- Finished with 11 saves including eight in 110 minutes vs. North Central
- Boasts 0.460 UMAC-best conference GAA with just one goal allowed in 195:28 minutes played
WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Becca Rancour, So., St. Scholastica
Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson
- Tallied six goals and 13points in two UMAC wins for the Saints
- Recorded the game-winner and tie-breaking goal vs. Bethany Lutheran
- Scored four goals in 3:51 vs. NCU – sixth-fastest for the feat in Division III history
WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michaela Cowman, Fy., Crown
Quincy, Ill./Quincy
- Recorded 32 saves in two games in net for Crown
- Finished with 17 saves in a loss to Martin Luther
- Reached the 100-save mark in just her sixth collegiate game
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Ben Bitter, So., Martin Luther
Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran
- Finished eighth of 278 runners at the St. Olaf Invite
- Clocked a time of 26:18.9 to help MLC to top finish by a UMAC team
- Led all UMAC finishers from eight competing schools at the meet
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Casey Hovland, Sr., St. Scholastica
North Branch, Minn./North Branch
- Won her second individual title this season with first at the St. Olaf Invite
- Clocked a time of 22:15 that was seven seconds faster than the next finisher
- Became the first Saint to win the first two races of the season since national champion Chelsea Johnson in 2013
MEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Oscar Larsson, Jr., Northland
Stromsbro, Sweden./Bryras IF
- Collected medalist honors at the Northland Invite
- Recored a low round of 74 (+2) to help the LumberJacks win the tournament
- His low round was a personal-best and a team-low for the year
WOMEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Arica Sheff, Jr., St. Scholastica
Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet
- Shot a UMAC-low round for the year with 80 (+8) to win Northland Invite
- Tied for ninth at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugold Invite with 172 (+28)
- Recorded the fifth-best scoring average on par-four holes at UW-Eau Claire
