UMAC Player of the Week Awards - Oct. 16, 2017
ST. PAUL, Minn.--- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its Player of the Week award winners Monday in the sports of football, volleyball, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's cross country. The UMAC Player of the Week awards are nominated for by UMAC coaches and sports information directors (SIDs) and selected by SIDs. The awards are published each Monday afternoon.
The award winners and descriptions of their accomplishments for the week are below:

FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marquez Ellison, Jr., MacMurray
Troy, Mo./Troy-Buchanan
- Led MacMurray offensively to seventh-straight win this season
- Tallied a career-high four rushing touchdowns against Minnesota Morris
- Rushed for 116 yards on 22 carries for an average 5.2 yards per carry
FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Drew Shipley, So., Minnesota Morris
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/Lake City
- Recorded 17 total tackles and two interceptions in Saturday's loss
- Currently leads the UMAC in conference (67) and total (80) tackles
- Added four punts inside the 20 yardline in eight attempts
FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jack Peru, Sr., St. Scholastica
Phoenix, Ariz./Trevor G. Browne
- Scored the Saints' first kick-return touchdown of the season Saturday
- Ran 77-yards for the score and finished with 113 total kick return yards
- Led the team in all-purpose yards with 185 in the win over Martin Luther
VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lindsey Peterson, Sr., Northwestern
Sheffield, Iowa/West Fork
- Set new all-time career kills and digs records for Northwestern
- Collected 62 kills (4.13 k/s) in four matches and hit .304 on the week
- Tallied three double-doubles in all three Eagles' wins
VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morgan Miller, So., Minnesota Morris
Twin Valley, Minn./Ada Borup
- Recorded 18 blocks in three matches for the Cougars
- Tallied nine blocks in five-set loss to Northwestern
- Added 32 kills and five digs to her stat line
VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Leesa Malone, Sr., Northwestern
Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie
- Recorded 104 assists (6.38 per set) in four matches for the Eagles
- Tallied second 30-plus assist outing of the year with 30 vs. UW-River Falls
- Added 22 kills and five blocks on the week
MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josiah Donat, Sr., Northwestern
Elk River, Minn./Washtenaw Christian Academy
- Helped Northwestern to critical 4-0 win over Minnesota Morris
- Scored a hat trick in the first half of the win for the Eagles
- Ranks second in conference goals (10) and points (21)
MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Eli Etzel, Sr., Crown
Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo
- Recorded 14 saves in two games for the Storm
- Tallied nine saves in a win over North Central
- Made a save on a penalty kick opportunity for North Central
WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madison Perry, Fy., Bethany Lutheran
Anoka, Minn./Anoka
- Helped Bethany Lutheran back into playoff picture with two UMAC wins
- Recorded first collegiate hat trick in 4-2 win over North Central
- Scored both goals including the game-winner in overtime vs. Northland
WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sarah Kell, Sr., Martin Luther
Zumbrota, Minn./Winnebago Lutheran Academy
- Led Martin Luther defensive line that tallied two shutouts last week
- Anchored the Knights' that allowed just three shots on goal in both games
- Scored her first collegiate goal in the Knights' win over Crown
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Isaac Boedigheimer, Fy., St. Scholastica
Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet
- Finished 19th individually at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational
- Clocked a season-best 26:21 that is fifth-best 8,000-meter time in Saints' history
- His placing is the highest-ever in the Saints' 11-year history at the meet
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Nicole Gilman, So., St. Scholastica
Manitowish Waters, Wis./Lakeland Union
- Led the Saints with a team-best time at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational
- Finished 30th overall in her first race since the opening meet of the year
- Clocked a time of 24:06 in the 6,000-meter race
