ST. PAUL, Minn.---Each Wednesday throughout the year, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is featuring student-athletes in its new profile series the "UMAC Wednesday Wrap with..." Student-athletes share their perspective on being a student-athlete at their institution, in the UMAC and in Division III.
This week features basketball player and golfer Daniel Gutzmer of the Bethany Lutheran College and track and cross country athlete Ali Manthey of the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do
Who has been the most influential on your athletics career and why?
My sister - She has pushed me to be better in my life to try and match her accomplishments.

What do enjoy most about competing in the UMAC?
I love how it's a smaller conference, I feel like I know everyone and I have friends from other schools due to racing against them all the time.
Tell us about a unique experience you've had as a student at Wisconsin-Superior.
I have been blessed with an internship with one of my favorite companies. It was an amazing experience.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned so far from being a college athlete?
That your teammates are always there for you. For sports, classes, and socal life. They are the best people I know.
What is something most people don't know about you?
That, growing up, I wanted to be a firefighter.
