Tennis Joins Player of the Week Awards
UMAC MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
CD Douglas, University of Minnesota
Douglas averaged 29 points this weekend, scoring 26 vs St. Scholastica and 32 points in the win at Wisconsin-Superior. He shot 62.2% from the field and finished the weekend shooting 10-13 from the foul line. Douglas also added 7.5 rebounds and five assists per game.
UMAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Briana Brandts, Bethany Lutheran College
Briana recorded two double-doubles for the Vikings this weekend by averaging 16.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per contest. The senior recorded her 11th double-double of the season over the weekend. In doing so, the forward averaged 37.5 minutes.
UMAC WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Karen Moe, University of Northwestern
Moe helped the Eagles to a 6-3 victory over St. Ben's Saturday, as the junior won (6-0, 6-2) at No. 1 singles before pairing up with Jessica Henke for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.
UMAC MEN'S TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kevin Harris, Bethany Lutheran College
Harris ran the best race of his young track career in a school record time of 23.17 in the men's 200m race. Also, in the final event the day, the men's 4x400m relay stole the show as Kevin and company broke the school record with a time of 3:38.00.
UMAC WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Svenja Ruehl, University of Wisconsin-Superior
Svenja broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles, coming in with a time of 9.40 seconds which beats her previous record by .12 seconds. She placed third in the 60-meter finals, and immediately followed that up by going to the long jump and setting a new personal record jump of 5.46-meters (17' 11"), which won the event and placed her 17th in the DIII national rankings. Ruehl's jump bested her previous personal record by nearly half a meter.
