SUPERIOR, Wis.---After a season of thrilling performances in multiple events, the 2016 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship was sure to provide just as much entertainment. The first night definitely didn't disappoint as four new men's records were set Friday evening at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

| Day One Results |

The first record of the night came early as College of St. Scholastica standout multi-event athlete Kevin Wagner won the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 8.45. His time bettered the previous record set in 2013 by the Saints' Justin Hanson.

In addition to Wagner's impressive new record, he also captured individual event titles in the 400-meter run and the long jump. The sophomore won the 400-meter run with a time 51.85 that was just off the meet record of 51.48. He also took first in the long jump with a mark of 6.66 meters (21-10.25).

The next record came as no surprise as Wisconsin-Superior senior and 2015 UMAC men's cross country champion Charles Corbett won the 5,000-meter run. Corbett crossed the line in 15:16.33 to better the previous record set in 2011 by over 24 seconds.

Reigning UMAC Field Athlete of the Year from 2015, St. Scholastica's Corey Anderson broke his record set a year ago in the high jump when he cleared a height of 2.01 meters (6-7). His mark was two inches better than his previous UMAC-best 1.96 meters (6-5).

The final record of the night came from the Yellowjackets' Distance Medley Relay team of Jackson Lindquist, Noah Potratz, Rand Bieri and Corbett. The Wisconsin-Superior quad shattered the previous record with a time of 10:41.20 that was 37 seconds faster than the previous-best time set in 2014 by Minnesota Morris.

St. Scholastica's Jeremy Peterson defended his championship title in the weight throw with a mark of 17.21 meters (56-5.75). His mark was nearly four feet further than the next competitor.

The men's 4 x 200-meter relay provided a thrilling conclusion to the meet as Wisconsin-Superior' s squad of Caleb Hohensee, Joseph Olinger, Alex Dzinkoski, and Alexander Fathie came from behind on the final turn to win with a time of 1:34.08 to capture the crown.

The remaining race was the men's 60-meter prelims. Defending champion Justin Terry of Minnesota Morris posted the top time of the night clocking in at 7.16 to earn the top seed in Saturday's final.

The first day concluded with Wisconsin-Superior holding the team lead with 96 points, while St. Scholastica was just behind with 86 points. Bethany Lutheran College rounded out third place with 31 points and Minnesota Morris had 26 points for fourth. The University of Northwestern-St. Paul claimed the fifth spot with 14 points.
