ST. PAUL, Minn.---Each Wednesday throughout the year, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) is featuring student-athletes in its new profile series the "UMAC Wednesday Wrap with..." Student-athletes share their perspective on being a student-athlete at their institution, in the UMAC and in Division III.
This week features cross country runner Tiffany Tellock of Martin Luther College and basketball player Austin VanDerHeyden of Crown College.

What do you love most about being a student-athlete at Martin Luther?
I love being able to go to practice after long days of class and getting to run with girls who share the same passion for their future career as I do.
What do you enjoy most about competing in the UMAC?
I enjoy going to the conference cross country meet at the end of the season and being able to run with so many other talented athletes. I also enjoy the sportsmanship of the teams in the UMAC.
Who has been the most influential on your athletics career and why?
My high school cross country coaches have been the most influential because they instilled in me a love to run.
What is something most people don't know about you?
I've lived in the same house my entire life.

What do you enjoy most about competing in the UMAC?
Being able to compete at the college level while still growing in my faith journey.
Tell us about a unique experience you've had as a student-athlete at Crown.
The unique experience is being able to connect with professors like I never could in high school. They truly care about you and your success.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being a college athlete so far?
Hard work pays off.
Who has been the most influential on your athletics career and why?
My mom - She is at every game and she never stops believing in me.
