ALEXANDRIA, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica will head into Day 2 of the three-day Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women’s Golf Championship with a 30-stroke lead after submitting a first round score of 357 at Alexandria Golf Club. Rather moderate weather allowed for fairly decent scoring; 15 women wrapped up their first 18 holes with a score of 99 or less. The Saints’ Arica Sheff had the top round of the day with an 11-over-par score of 83, seven strokes better than her teammate Alexis Babcock and Wisconsin-Superior’s Ally Busick, who are tied for second with 90.

Playing at 5,827 yards, the par-72 course that has played home to Minnesota golfing legend Tom Lehman is hosting the UMAC Championships for the third consecutive year.
All 40 women’s golfers will be back in action again on Friday for Day 2. Tee times begin at 11 a.m. on Hole No. 10 with the UMAC men teeing off on No. 10 on Thursday. The two genders switch starting tees on each day, meaning the women will be back at No. 1 on Saturday.
