Nine Schools Represented in UMAC Player of the Week Awards
UMAC FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Latif Adams, Westminster College
Adams scored two rushing touchdowns and rushed for 169 yards on 18 carries against MacMurray this past week. He also finished the game with one receiving touchdown and 87 receiving yards on four receptions.
UMAC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Trever Zeibert, Eureka College
Zeibert led the charge of the defense for Eureka this past week with a career-high 12 tackles, eight of which were unassisted.
UMAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ben Lyons, University of Northwestern
UNW placekicker Ben Lyons was perfect Saturday afternoon, as the sophomore went 2-for-2 on field goals and converted on all three PAT attempts. Lyons connected on field goals from 42 yards out and 33 yards out to help the Eagles defeat Minnesota Morris 27-0.
UMAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tom Corcoran, College of St. Scholastica
Tom scored a second half hat trick to help CSS come from 2-0 down at half time to beat #23 St Thomas. Over the week he managed 10 points as he added a goal and an assist against Northwestern on Saturday.
UMAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sandy Davidson-Hunt, College of St. Scholastica
Sandy got two shut outs during the week, one against Northland and the other at Northwestern before making two saves in the last five minutes to help maintain the 3-2 lead against #23 St Thomas.
UMAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dakotah Sparrman, North Central University
Sparrman scored three goals this week including scoring directly off a free kick 20 yards from goal against BLC.
UMAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josie Monson, University of Northwestern
The freshman goalkeeper contributed to two shutouts for the Eagles this weekend, against NCU and CSS, and tallied 13 saves on the week. Monson currently leads the UMAC in shutouts.
UMAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Darian Schnose, Martin Luther College
Schnose finished second out of all MLC runners at St. Olaf with a time of 27:44.
UMAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Kelli Praska, University of Wisconsin-Superior
Praska finished 30th place at the St. Olaf College's Invitational with a time of 23:54.
UMAC MEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tom Messner, Crown College
Messner led Crown to a team victory at the UNW Invite by winning medalist honors with a one-under par 70.
UMAC WOMEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tera Weyer, North Central University
Tera won medalist honors at the UNW Invitational with a career-low round of 82 on Tuesday. She won the event by five strokes over the field of UMAC competitors.
UMAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marissa Ekness, University of Minnesota Morris
Ekness averaged 4.31 kills per set last week, with double digit kills in every match, and ten plus digs in three matches. She set a new career high with 27 kills against Martin Luther and recorded 19 digs.
UMAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Reitsma, University of Minnesota Morris
In four matches Reitsma averaged 5.25 digs per set last week. She once again tied her career high with 27 digs, doing so in the Cougars win over Northwestern.
UMAC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Brooke Decker, University of Minnesota Morris
Decker averaged 9.94 assists per set last week. In the match against Northwestern she set a new career high with 54 assists, and also tallied 18 digs. She followed this performance up with 48 assists against Martin Luther.
