CSS's Argir, Christianson Lead UMAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Awards

ST. PAUL – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its all-conference award winners for women’s outdoor track and field on Wednesday. The 2015 UMAC Champion, the College of St. Scholastica, boasted 16 honorees while second place University of Minnesota added 13 to the list. Martin Luther College had one individual named to the 30 member all-conference team.

St. Scholastica’s Sammi Argir was named the championship’s women’s track athlete of the meet following the conclusion of Saturday’s events. Argir finished in first place in both the 100m and 200m races while running the first leg of the Saints’ 4x100m relay team that claimed first place as well, setting new UMAC meet records in all three events. Argir’s teammate, Nicole Christianson, earned women’s field athlete of the meet honors following a first place finish in both the high jump and triple jump. Christianson set new UMAC championship meet records in both events and also finished in fourth place in the long jump.

After his team won their 11th straight UMAC Outdoor Championship, St. Scholastica head coach Kirk Nauman was voted the UMAC Coach of the Year by his peers. Bethany Lutheran College was awarded with the UMAC Team Sportsmanship Award after displaying positive sportsmanship throughout the entire 2015 season and championship event. Each institution also had one recipient named to the individual sportsmanship list:
