ST. PAUL – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its 2015 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field All-Conference award winners on Wednesday handing out a total of 28 individual certificates. The College of St. Scholastica received nine of those certificates with the University of Northwestern earning seven individual honors and the University of Minnesota Morris claiming six of the All-UMAC accolades. Bethany Lutheran College and Martin Luther College each added three individuals to the award list.

Following completion of the championship Bethany Lutheran’s Owen Richardson, St. Scholsatica’s Kevin Wagner and Minnesota Morris’ Justin Terry were named tri-track athletes of the meet as each turned in outstanding marks at the 2015 event.

Richardson competed in the 3000m steeplechase, the 5000m, 800m and 400m races and as a part of the Vikings’ 4x400m and 4x800m relay teams. His time of 9:53.65 in the steeplechase earned first place while setting a new UMAC meet record in the process. Richardson also came in second in the 5000m run and as a member of the 4x800m relay time while turning in fourth place finishes in the remaining races. Wagner turned in first place finishes in the 110m hurdles and as the anchor of the Saints’ 4x400 meter relay team that set a new UMAC record with a time of 3:25.25. In addition Wagner was the second runner to cross the finish line in both the 100m and 200m dash. Cougar sprinter Justin Terry turned in first place finishes in the 100m and 200m dash and as a member of the Morris 4x100m relay team. Terry’s prelim time of 10.75 in the 100m dash set a new UMAC meet record. He was also a member of Minnesota Morris’ third place 4x400m relay team.

St. Scholastica’s Jeremy Peterson earned field athlete of the meet honors after claiming first place in all three of the throwing events (shot put, discus throw and the hammer throw). All of Peterson’s first place marks also set new UMAC championship meet records.

Following his team’s victory at the 2015 Championship, St. Scholastica’s Kirk Nauman was named UMAC Coach of the Year, while Northwestern earned the league’s team sportsmanship award for displaying exemplary sportsmanship throughout the entire 2015 season and championship event.
