UMAC Game of the Week Archives

The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Game of the Week is a feature that takes place each week throughout the conference portion of the season with one contest being selected and highlighted as the UMAC Game of the Week.

The week’s UMAC Game of the Week will take place on Wednesday, October 28 as the University of Northwestern and the University of Minnesota Morris volleyball teams meet.  Both teams are currently undefeated (6-0) in UMAC play with just two games remaining in the conference schedule.  The winner of Wednesday’s match will not only remain unbeaten in conference play but will also claim at least a share of the 2015 UMAC Regular Season Volleyball title.

About the Eagles
The University of Northwestern volleyball team will look to clinch at least a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) regular season title Wednesday night when they host Minnesota Morris. The Eagles have compiled a 22-8 overall record and 6-0 mark in league play. The Eagles most recently swept St. Scholastica, 3-0, last Saturday in Duluth.

Lindsey Peterson has had a strong sophomore campaign for the Eagles, as the Sheffield, Iowa, native has racked up 373 kills – which ranks second in the conference. Shanay Gonder’s 0.97 blocks per set average and .300 hitting percentage lead the UMAC, while Jackie Foster sits second in the league with her 500 digs. Northwestern has been dominant at the net this fall, as they are hitting a conference-best .235 as a team and have tallied 237 total blocks to lead the UMAC.

About the Cougars
Minnesota Morris travels to St. Paul tomorrow night for their biggest match of the season. The Cougars will battle with Northwestern in a match that could decide the 2015 UMAC Regular Season Championship. Both teams are 6-0 in UMAC play with just two matches left.
Earlier this season the Cougars beat the Eagles in five sets during the UMAC Preview event.  Marissa Ekness had 20 kills in the match. Abby Tietz had 19 kills and Brooke Decker had 54 assists.
