Four Saints Among UMAC Player of the Week Award Winners
FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
QB Caleb Huss, Iowa Wesleyan College
In his first start of the year Huss led the Tigers to their first win of the 2014 season on Saturday. He completed 15-25 passing attempts for 205 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Huss also led the ground game for IWC, carrying the ball 16 times for 74 yards.
FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
LB Nicholas Morrow, Greenville College
Nick had 11 tackles in Greenville's win on Saturday, including three tackles for a loss in a dominating performance for the Panthers.
FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WR Andrew Smith, College of St. Scholastica
Smith recorded 93 yards on four punt returns in Saturday's win, including a 59-yard return for a touchdown. The 93 yards are the second-most punt return yards in a game in program history and the 59-yard return is the third-longest in program history.
MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
F Andrew Jenkins, College of St. Scholastica
With his points at Northland on Tuesday Andrew became the program's career leading points getter as he surpasses Joe Watt's record of 159 points, Jenkins, after the week, now has 173 total points. Just this week Jenkins had seven goals and three assists in three UMAC contests.
MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
GK Tanner Fischer, Crown College
Fisher recorded his first career shutout against Martin Luther and then held Morris to a single goal while playing for over an hour with only 10 men.
WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
F Jalyn Britton, College of St. Scholastica
Jalyn had three goals and three assists playing a part in six of 10 goals on the week. She also recorded 13 shots in a three game period.
WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
GK Miranda Carda, University of Northwestern
Miranda tallied 24 saves this weekend for the Eagles, including 17 alone in Saturday's contest against St. Scholastica with a save percentage of .850.
MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Evan Lunda, Northland College
Last Monday Evan won his third straight tournament posting a team record 69 (2-under par) and finishing the Northwestern tournament as the only golfer to finish under par while becoming the first Northland College golfer to shoot under par since the program's revival last year.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Grey Davis, Martin Luther College
Davis finished 49th at the St. Olaf Invitational with a time of 27:33.6. He was the top finisher among all UMAC runners at the race leading the Knights to a 13th place finish in the team competition, first among the four UMAC schools at the event.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Amanda Peters, University of Minnesota Morris
Peters was the top UMAC finisher at the St. Olaf Invite finishing the course in a time of 24:03.7. She finished as the 18th best runner from a Division III school at the race.
VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
OH Kortney Morrin, College of St. Scholastica
Kortney was virtually error-free with only one missed serve and seven hitting errors in two matches over the weekend. She averaged 3.5 kills per set while adding 4.5 digs per set over on the weekend for the Saints.
VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DS Hannah Terhaar, University of Minnesota Morris
Terhaar averaged 4.78 digs per set this weekend with and had a season and career high of 28 digs in Friday's match against Northwestern.
VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
S Emily Franzen, Bethany Lutheran College
In Friday's win over Northland, Franzen amassed 44 set assists, good for third most in a single game in program history. She added another 30 assists on Saturday against St. Schoalstica and averaged 12.33 assists per set on the weekend.
