Huberty, Keller lead Women's Indoor Track & Field All-Conference Honors

ST. PAUL – Following Saturday’s Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Indoor Track and Field Championship the league awarded all –conference honors to 30 women’s track and field student-athletes. The College of St. Scholastica, who won their fifth straight conference title on Saturday, led all teams claiming 17 individual honors.

One of St. Scholastica’s all-conference honors went to Becky Huberty who shined in her events on Saturday taking first place and setting the meet record in both the weight throw and shut put competitions. Huberty was named 2014 UMAC Field Athlete of the Meet for her performance at the championship event.

The University of Minnesota Morris returned home with 11 individual honors, with UMAC Track Athlete of the Meet Linda Keller included in the honorees. Keller finished first place in the mile run and was a member of the Cougars first place distance medley relay team with her time in the mile run setting a new UMAC record. Keller was also a member of Minnesota Morris’ second place 4x400 meter relay squad and finished in third place in the 800 meter run.

St. Scholastica’s head coach Kirk Nauman was named UMAC Coach of the Year after his team won their fifth consecutive UMAC trophy. The Saints claimed the team title by scoring 274 points in the team competition, with Minnesota Morris taking second with 119 points. The University of Northwestern finished in third place with 56 points followed by Bethany Lutheran College’s 28 points.

To earn UMAC All-Conference honors participants must place in first or second place in an individual event or be a member of a champion relay team.
