Saints, Cougars Well Represented in Men's Indoor Track & Field All-Conference Awards

ST. PAUL – 24 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men’s Indoor Track and Field All-Conference honors were awarded following Saturday’s UMAC Championship meet. The College of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota Morris, who finished in first and second place respectively, each took home 11 individual honors.

Minnesota Morris’ Chalmer Combellick was named the Track Athlete of the Meet following an impressive showing on Saturday. Combellick was a part of three victories and two UMAC meet records as he was the individual champion in the 800 meter run, the one mile run and anchored the first place 4x400 meter relay team. His 800 meter time set a new meet record as did the Cougars’ 4x400 meter relay time.

The Field Athlete of the Meet honor was awarded to St. Scholastica’s Jeremy Peterson who swept the throws claiming the individual champion title in both the weight throw and the shot put at the conference championship.

Bethany Lutheran’s head coach David Ring was named UMAC Coach of the Year after leading is team to a third place finish at Saturday’s UMAC Championship in just the second year of the program. The Vikings finished ahead of the University of Northwestern and behind first place St. Scholastica and second place Minnesota Morris.

To earn UMAC All-Conference honors participants must place in first or second place in an individual event or be a member of a champion relay team.
