Minnesota Morris leads UMAC Women's Cross Country Awards List
ST. PAUL – Upon completion of Saturday’s Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women’s Cross Country Championship the league awarded all-conference honors to the top 12 individual finishers.
The University of Minnesota Morris led the all-conference award list landing five individuals in the top 12, including senior Amanda Peters who was the first runner to cross the finish line in the women’s 6K race with a time of 23:19.4. The Cougars were also named the 2014 UMAC Women’s Cross Country Champions on Saturday, finishing with a team total of 19 points.
Minnesota Morris head coach Jeremy Karger Gatzow was selected by his UMAC peers as the 2014 Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year following Saturday’s championship race.
Joining the five Cougars on the all-conference list were four runners from the College of St. Scholastica, two individuals from Bethany Lutheran College and one from Martin Luther College.
Martin Luther College won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches to recognize the team who best represents sportsmanship throughout the entire season, including the championship event. The following student-athletes received individual sportsmanship honors:
