UMAC Game of the Week Archives
ST. PAUL -- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Game of the Week is a feature that takes place each week throughout the conference portion of the season with one contest being selected and highlighted as the UMAC Game of the Week.
This week's UMAC Game of the Week will take place at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, October 31 with the University of Minnesota Morris hosting the College of St. Scholastica in a women's soccer match that could very well decide the 2014 UMAC regular season champion. The two teams are currently tied atop the UMAC standings (10-0-1) with two games left in the regular season. Earlier this season the Cougars and Saints tied in Duluth.
About the Cougars
Since 2003 the Cougars have four wins and three ties against the Saints. A win over the Saints would give the Cougars the number one seed in the UMAC Tournament next week. A tie would mean the Cougars and Saints would most likely split the UMAC regular season title. Currently the Cougars hold the tie breaker over the Saints due to goals allowed.
The Cougar offense has been led this season by Emma LaChance and Molly Hancuh who have each scored 10 goals on the season. Christina Mollan has added eight assists on the season for the Cougars. The Morris goalies lead the league in save percentage and goals against average.
About the Saints
The St. Scholastica women's soccer team will be in search of its 11th straight UMAC regular season title this weekend. The Saints come in with a five-game winning streak and have allowed only two goals in conference play. However, both of those goals allowed have come in the second go-round against conference teams.
CSS scored nine goals this past weekend and seven of those were scored by senior forward Kelsey Kehtel. Kehtel has 19 goals this season as she looks for her fourth straight 20-goal season. Senior Jalyn Britton has recorded at least one assist in four of the last five games and senior Casey Mitchell has at least one point in four of the last five games.
