UMAC Game of the Week Archives

ST. PAUL -- The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Game of the Week is a feature that takes place each week throughout the conference portion of the season with one contest being selected and highlighted as the UMAC Game of the Week.

The week's UMAC Game of the Week will take place on Saturday, September 28 as the University of Minnesota Morris and Bethany Lutheran College will take the pitch together for the 17th time in UMAC men's soccer action. The meeting will be an important one as both teams look to remain near the top of the UMAC standings after the second week of conference play. The Vikings currently boast a 2-0 conference record while the Cougars are 1-1. The game is scheduled for noon on Saturday in Mankato, Minn.

About the Cougars
Morris is looking to rebound after a tough 2-1 overtime loss to St. Scholastica last Saturday. Willy Wachudtka is leading the team with three goals on the year despite playing in the back four this season. Ebrima Badgie has two goals and two assists on the year as he continues to move up the all-time UMM scoring rankings.

About the Vikings
The Vikings came off a 19-day layoff to record back-to-back road wins at North Central and Northwestern to open conference play. It's Bethany's first 2-0 UMAC start in program history. Two players have already earned UMAC Player of the Week honors: Jason Buechler and Juan Garcia. Garcia is coming off a great weekend in the twin cities scoring three goals and assisting on another. Bethany is also led by 2012 UMAC Rookie of the Year Benjamin Moldstad who is second on the team with two goals, including the game winner at Northwestern.

Game Notes
- This is the second road game for the Cougars since August 30th, they play at Martin Luther on Friday.

- Bethany is averaging 2.8 goals per game, tied with St. Scholastica for the conference lead in the category.

- Minnesota Morris leads the all-time series 12-3-2.

- Bethany is 0-5-2 in their last seven home matches against Minn.-Morris.

- UMM has shutout Bethany nine times in their 12 wins, in addition one of their ties was 0-0.

- BLC's win last year at Morris broke a 13-game winless drought against the Cougars.
