ST. PAUL – Four schools were represented in the 12 member Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) First Team All-Conference award list with the 2013 regular season co-champions, the University of Northwestern and the University of Minnesota Morris, each claiming four of those accolades.
Northwestern senior setter Krista Stoltz was voted 2013 UMAC Player of the Year in addition to being a first team honoree. Stoltz, who averaged 11.01 assists per set this season, posted 567 set assists in 14 conference matches and 1,398 on the season to date. She also recorded her 4,000th career assist this season.
Stoltz’s teammate, senior libero Lexi Bertsch, was named the 2013 UMAC Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 5.54 digs per set throughout the 14 game conference schedule this season. Bertsch finished the UMAC play with 205 digs and has tallied 591 on the season.
Crown College’s Da’Neisha Patterson grabbed the Rookie of the Year title after a freshman campaign that included 107 kills in conference play.
Minnesota Morris Head Coach Chad Braegelmann was voted conference coach of the year by his colleagues after leading his team to a 13-1 UMAC record and a share of the 2013 UMAC regular season championship.
