Men's Cross Country Post-season Awards Announced
ST. PAUL -- Following Saturday's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Men's Cross Country Championship, the top 12 runners from the race were awarded with all-conference honors.
The College of St. Scholastica led the list with four runners placing in the top 12. The Saints also claimed the team competition title, finishing with a team score of 37 points.
Adam Zias of Northland College won the eight-kilometer race for the second consecutive year crossing the finish line with a time of 26:22. Zias was joined on the all-conference list by two additional Northland teammates. The University of Minnesota Morris had a pair of runners finishing in the top 12 as well as one runner from Northwestern College, Martin Luther College and Crown College also earning the honor.
St. Scholatica head coach Steve Pfingsten was chosen as the UMAC Coach of the Year. Pfingsten and the Saints have won the UMAC Championship each of the past four years.
Martin Luther College won the team sportsmanship award, an accolade that is selected by the UMAC coaches to recognize the team who be represents sportsmanship throughout the entire 2012 season, which includes the championship event. Each team also had one representative on the individual sportsmanship list:
