ST. PAUL -- Student-athletes from the top four teams of the College of St. Scholastica, University of Minnesota Morris, Northwestern College and Crown College comprised the 13 spots on the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference First Team, the league announced on Wednesday. Minnesota Morris, who finished as the regular season runner up and the conference tournament champion, led all teams with five first team selections, followed by four from St. Scholastica, who won the UMAC regular season trophy.

Crown’s Jon Schulz was voted as the UMAC Offensive Player of the Year after a standout senior season that included a UMAC best 11 conference goals and 25 points. St. Scholastica’s Bryan Olson was an anchor for the Saints on defense, earning UMAC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Olson helped St. Scholastica own the top spot in the league for goals allowed and goals against average. The Saints also posted a UMAC-best 10 shutouts in 12 conference games.

Northwestern College claimed the rookie and coach of the year awards. Stephen Ricks was tabbed as the UMAC Rookie of the Year after scoring four goals to go with four assists for 12 points in his first season. Eagles head coach Greg Wheaton was voted the coach of the year after leading his team to an 8-3-1 finish in conference play.
