PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARDS
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Matt Lewis - JR | P | College of Saint Scholastica
St. Scholastica's Matt Lewis had some great outings last week as he went 2-0 on two appearances. In his two starts, Lewis recorded a 1.38 ERA with a complete game shutout. He allowed only 13 hits, three walks, and two earned runs in 13 innings pitched. Lewis struck out 15 batters, eight of which came in his first collegiate shutout verses St. Olaf and seven over conference opponent, Bethany Lutheran.
Baseball Player of the Week
Ryan Long - SR | OF | Northwestern College
Northwestern's Ryan Long rallied the Eagles with 12 hits in 23 at bats, including three doubles, a triple, and a homerun. His .870 slugging percentage, .542 on-base percentage, ten RBI, and eight runs scored helped the Eagles go 3-2 on the week. In the field, Long recorded 11 put-outs and two assists.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Jen Falk - JR | P | College of Saint Scholastica
Jen Falk took the mound three times throughout last week and made sure never to come out of the pitcher's circle in her appearances. In her three starts, Falk recorded three wins, three complete games, and one shutout. In 19 innings pitched, Falk gave up three runs, two of which were earned, and ten walks. She also recorded 20 strikeouts and held opponents to a .257 batting average.
Softball Player of the Week
Merryssa Tiedeman - SO | OF | College of Saint Scholastica
Merryssa Tiedeman showed tremendous leadership as she belted 15 hits last week on 23 at bats to drive in 11 runs. Tiedeman's five doubles, one triple, and two home runs helped her weekly batting average soar to .652 and her slugging percentage top out at 1.217. She was errorless from the defensive side of the diamond while adding seven assists.
Men's Tennis
Tim Dean - SR | College of Saint Scholastica
Throughout the week, St. Scholastica's Tim Dean helped the Saints achieve a perfect 4-0 record by out-dueling the competition with an unbeaten 2-0 individual record and an undefeated 4-0 doubles record verses conference opponents.
Women's Tennis
Katie Motley - SR | College of Saint Scholastica
Katie Motley displayed senior leadership by posting a perfect 3-0 individual record and a 3-0 record in doubles play versus conference opponents. Her athleticism helped push the Saints to a perfect 4-0 record on the week, with conference wins in 9-0, 9-0, and 8-1 fashion.
Men's Outdoor Track & Field
Tom Lyscio - SO | Discus, Hammer, & Shot Put | College of Saint Scholastica
St. Scholastica's Tom Lyscio proved his strength as he beat the competition in three categories at the Twin Ports Twilight hosted by Minnesota-Duluth. Lyscio won the men's hammer throw with a toss of 47.85 meters, the shot put with a toss of 14.36 meters, and the discus with a throw of 40.03 meters. He went on to win another men's hammer throw competition at the North Country Invite hosted by Minnesota-Duluth, throwing a 51.19 meter hurl to post a new school record and qualify for the NCAA meet.
Women's Outdoor Track & Field
Nikki Hughes - SO | 400m, 800 m, 4x400m, Sprint Medley Relay | College of Saint Scholastica
At a rainy Twin Ports Twilight meet in Duluth, Nikki Hughes was victorious in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:00.94 and achored the Sprint Medley Relay with a school record-pace of 4:14.74. Furthermore, Hughes put the competition in her rearview mirror at the North Country Invite, running to a new school record in the 800 meter race. Hughes also led the women's winning 4x400 meter team.
