Sterle and Beckermann headline Men's & Women's Tennis All-Conference awards
St. Paul, Minn., (Apr. 29, 2008) – After sweeping the men’s and women’s Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships, the College of St. Scholastica received nine individual conference selections, including both of the league’s men’s and women’s Players of the Year. Five St. Scholastica men were awarded with UMAC All-Conference honors while four women were chosen for the same accolade.
Northwestern College came in second in both the men’s and women’s categories, tallying four individual all-conference awards for each gender. The Eagles finished second behind St. Scholastica in both the regular season men’s and women’s final standings.
Sophomore Dillon Sterle, the Saints’ No. 1 singles player, was 6-2 in UMAC play, earning him Player of the Year honors. Paula Beckermann, St. Scholastica’s ace in women’s play, finished 3-0 in the league’s singles competition while teaming up with doubles partner Katie Motley. As a tandem, they finished the 2008 campaign at 4-0.
