UMAC Softball Preseason Poll Announced

2008 SOFTBALL PRESEASON POLL


ST. PAUL (Feb. 26, 2008) -- The College of St. Scholastica, a team that has won the last nine Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championships since 1999, was picked to repeat their title again in the 2008 coaches poll. The Saints, who finished with a 13-1 conference record, received 48 points and five first-place votes.

Northland College placed second in votes following their 11-3 second place finish in the UMAC in 2007. The LumberJills return eight starters this year, including three all-conference players.

Following an 8-6 conference mark last season, Northwestern College was voted to finish third in the conference. The University of Minnesota-Morris was voted fourth with 28 votes.
