Citing a “chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity,” Don Olson has accepted the offer to be the next Director of Athletics at the College of St. Scholastica after a 32 year association at Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minn.

Northwestern College was recently recognized as the winner of the 2007-08 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Kruse Award. 

St. Scholastica first baseman Sean Claugherty (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS) capped his 2008 season with the Saints with one last honor as the sophomore slugger was named to the Ameri­can Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Division III All-American Second Team as announced by the ABCA on Tuesday.

Fresh off their run into the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional championship game last weekend, St. Scholastica baseball closed out their season with six players earning nods onto the 2008 All-Midwest Regional Baseball Team.

No. 21 St. Scholastica's season ended in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship, as the Univ. of Wisconsin-Whitewater defeated the Saints 21-13.

Following their 12th straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship and fourth consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament, the College of St. Scholastica claimed a league-high eight individual UMAC First Team All-Conference awards, the league office announced on Friday.
